The Way of the Kingdom

A five week study of Christ's walk to the cross, his death and resurrection

“And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 13:29)

In the final days leading up to his death, Jesus taught his disciples all about the Kingdom of God. And what he told and showed them in every parable and sermon was this: the ways of God's Kingdom are totally different than the ways of this world. In Jesus' final words, we'll be reminded that in God's economy the first are last, the poor have a home, and the grieving have a road to the Kingdom of God. God's ways are not our ways, and THAT is our greatest good.

Study the Passion Week story

As Christ’s crucifixion drew near, He taught His disciples about the way of the Kingdom. He reminded them that His Kingdom is vastly different than the kingdoms of this world, and that His Kingdom is the only one that will never end. For five weeks we will walk with Jesus and His disciples in Luke’s account of Passion Week, and learn, like the disciples, to fix our eyes on the coming Kingdom of God.

Former Students

"I had never studied 'passion week' (in fact, I didn't even know it was called that until I did this study). One of my favorite things was seeing how important the resurrection is to our salvation. I guess I didn't really realize how much that changed everything!"

Taylor T.

"I've always rushed past some of these passages on Jesus' final words because they're, quite honestly, a little scary. But instead of avoiding them, this study helped me dive headlong into them and see how much hope they have for us as Christians!"

Emily G.

Introduction

Lent

“And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God.”

Luke 13:29

As Christ’s crucifixion drew near, he taught his disciples about the way of the kingdom. He reminded them that his kingdom is vastly different than the kingdoms of this world, and that it is the only one that will never end. For five weeks, we will walk with Jesus and his disciples in Luke’s account of the Passion Week, and learn, like the disciples, to fix our eyes on the coming kingdom of God.

Here’s what you have to look forward to in The Way of the Kingdom study for Lent:

Greek grammar: There are some fascinating grammatical studies in the original Greek (the language the book of Luke was originally written in). We’ll be looking at unique vocabulary throughout Jesus’s teachings.

Old Testament prophecy: One of the awe-inspiring themes throughout the Passion Week narrative is how many prophecies Jesus fulfilled in his death and resurrection. Throughout our study, we will observe several ways God has kept his promises in Christ.
